MTC Leads Strategic European Mission to Address EUDR Concerns with Key Decision-Makers

Belgium, 15 September 2022: The Malaysian Timber Council (MTC) in collaboration with the Malaysian Timber Association (MTA) led the engagement sessions in Brussels, Belgium and The Hague, The Netherlands from 3-9 September 2022.
The mission aimed at communicating the Malaysian Timber Industry’s Position Paper on the proposed European Union Deforestation-free Product Regulation (EUDR) with selected EU Members of the Parliament (EU MEPs) and relevant stakeholders in Europe.
The delegation was led by MTA President Mr. Goh Chee Yew and was accompanied by MTC COO Madam Noraihan Abdul Rahman, MTA Consultant Mr. Yong Teng Koon, MTC Advisor on Sustainability Issues Ms. Aimi Lee Abdullah, Malaysian Wood Industries Association (MWIA) Senior Executive Officer Ms. Pang Suet Kum as well as MTC Europe Regional Head Mr. Gopinathan Tanikudy.
The delegation met with, among others, Mr. Tapio Kytölä, Finnish Permanent Representation to the EU; Mr. Arnold Puech d’Alissac, Member of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC); Mr. Anthony Agotha, Member of Cabinet of the Executive Vice-President for the European Green Deal; Ms. Kristina Nordéus, Swedish Permanent Representation to the EU; Ms. Silvia Melegari, Secretary General of CEI-Bois; Ms. Zefira Eskidarova, Bulgarian Permanent Representation to the EU; Mr. Tomislav Tojcic, Croatian Permanent Representation to the EU; Ms. Janika Laht, Counsellor for Environmental Affairs and Estonian Permanent Representation to the EU; Ms. Marie-Louise Frolich Brodsgaard, Counsellor for Environment, Danish Permanent Representation to the EU; Mr. Eddy Esselink, Program Manager Sustainable Development, European Palm Oil Alliance; and H.E.
