Kuala Lumpur, 11 September 2024: The Malaysian Timber Council (MTC) held an Industry Training on ESG Framework for the Malaysian Timber Industry - From Framework to Action at its headquarters in Kuala Lumpur on 4-5 September 2024. MTC CEO, Madam Noraihan Abdul Rahman, welcomed all participants to the event and emphasised the pivotal role the ESG framework plays in shaping the future of the timber industry.

Developed by the Malaysian Timber Association (MTA), the ESG framework is specifically designed for Malaysia’s timber sector and aligns with international standards such as the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and the Simplified ESG Disclosure Guide (SEDG) for SMEs.

During the two-day session, participants explored vital social and environmental issues, including community engagement, labour practices, and carbon emission management. Case studies and interactive exercises offered valuable, hands-on insights to help industry players implement sustainable practices.
